Concerns
This solar panel kit is like the Hulk of portable chargers. It's bigger and heavier than I expected, and unfolding it feels like trying to tame a wild beast. The supports don't have a cross brace, so the panels bow like they're auditioning for a yoga class. Even in a windless area, it's a challenge to keep them from folding back in and collapsing. And despite coming with a DC charging adapter cable, it's missing a charging regulator/controller, so it's like having a fancy car with no engine. For the price, I expected better. I might as well have bought two kits with charge controllers and saved some cash. I'm returning this beast and sticking to a different brand.
Packaging is usually not something I mention, but when you're dealing with a behemoth like this, it's a valid concern. Thankfully, it arrived double-boxed with thick card boxing and foam pieces, so it survived the journey intact. As for the product itself, it's well-made and surprisingly light for its size. The fold-out supports are handy, but I wish they had some cross bracing for extra stability. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I don't want my solar panels doing yoga poses. I bought this for camping trips, and while it takes up some space, its flat design makes it easy to find a spot. Setting it up is a breeze, and the slight flex in the panels hasn't caused any issues. It's like having a gentle giant by my side.
These solar panels come in a cleverly designed pack that makes them highly portable, despite their weight. They unfold easily and can be positioned to catch the best sun rays. While they may seem like they'll collapse under their own weight, they surprisingly stay up securely and can be set up and packed away without a fuss. The pocket for storing cables is a nice touch, adding just a little extra bulk. They fit in the car boot with plenty of room to spare, even with all our luggage. But let's not ignore the elephant in the room – they are heavy! However, they charge up well and are great for camping, as long as you don't mind lugging around some bulky panels. Just be careful if it starts raining, as the material design might not hold up. Overall, they did the job of charging our portable power station, making them a good option for occasional use.
Should You Buy?
In conclusion, the ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel with MC-4 Output XT60/DC Adapter has truly impressed me as an avid outdoor enthusiast. The power output of this panel is remarkable, with its 400W capacity ensuring a significant gathering of power, making it ideal for camper vans and off-grid living. Even during overcast weather, it quickly replenishes my portable power station, providing constant charging throughout the day.
The exceptional quality of the panels, equipped with polycrystalline solar cells boasting a high efficiency of up to 22%, ensures a great conversion of sunlight into usable electricity. Setup is effortless with the neatly tucked folding supports, while the IP67 waterproof and durable ETFE coating makes it suitable for rugged outdoor activities.
Although the panel is quite heavy due to its larger size, the sturdy build quality gives it the necessary durability. The foldable design and included handle make it portable enough for travel, while the easy setup and helpful kickstand enhance convenience. The power output in full sun is impressive, effortlessly charging my devices.
I must commend the top-notch packaging, ensuring the safe arrival of the product.
For fellow outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy camping and adventure, the ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel is a game-changer. Its portability, power output, and durability make it a reliable source of energy on long trips. Whether exploring uncharted paths or seeking tranquility in serene landscapes, this panel ensures your devices remain powered up, capturing those unforgettable moments.
However, it is important to note that the panel does have its quirks, such as collapsing in windy conditions and being a bit bulky and flimsy. Nevertheless, considering the impressive 400W power output, this panel is definitely worth considering if resilience and convenience are not top priorities.
In conclusion, for those looking to live off the grid or embark on extended outdoor excursions, the ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel is a capable and well-made product that gets the job done. Just be prepared for its weight and the higher price point.

Simple Setup, Long Foldable Solar Panel
I recently purchased the ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel with MC-4 Output XT60/DC Adapter and I am quite impressed. This foldable solar panel consists of 5 panels, which has a maximum output of 400W. When unfolded, it is quite long and large, measuring 2.6 meters by 1 meter. However, it is worth noting that it is quite heavy, weighing nearly 20kg, making it a bit difficult to maneuver. Fortunately, it comes with a built-in handle to assist with transportation.
Setting up the solar panel is fairly simple after a few tries. You need to find a suitable spot with enough space to unfold each panel individually. The kickstand is easy to use and provides great support. However, I did notice that the panels bend slightly after setup. Nevertheless, the weight and shape of the solar panel help it stay securely in place even in windy conditions.
During my last trip, I tested the power output using a multimeter under moderate sunlight. The voltage measured around 42V and the amp measured around 2.5A. I believe the power output could increase even further under more intense sunlight.
One aspect of this product that I really appreciate is its ease of storage. When not in use, it doesn't take up much space. Overall, I am extremely happy with this solar panel. It functions exactly as expected and I would definitely recommend it.
Good for camping and occasionaly use.
Good quality well made, 5 solar pannels great in full sunlite, not very good in windy conditions. Set system up in the back garden but as it was windy the collapsed a few times. These would be great for camping but the pannels are flimsy and are quite bulky and heavy (they need a rigid frame)Also rain would be an issue due to the Material design. Overall they did the job charging a Portable Power Station Mobile Lithium Battery Pack . Good for camping and occasional use.
Bigger and hevier than expected
I was quite surprised by the size and weight of this ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel kit, even though I had carefully reviewed the dimensions in the product details. Due to its significant size, it is quite challenging to unravel and set up in a straight line. Unfortunately, the lack of a cross brace in the supports causes the panels to bow quite severely.
I tested the kit in a sheltered area with no wind, but even then, I had difficulty keeping the panels in position as some of the kickstands would fold back in and collapse. Additionally, despite including a DC charging adapter cable, it does not come with a built-in charging regulator/controller. This means that it cannot be directly used to charge a 12V DC input on a device.
Considering the price (RRP of 700 when writing this review), I expected a much higher quality product. I realized I could have purchased two 200W kits with charge controllers for a significantly lower price than this. Personally, I don't believe this kit is suitable for anything other than charging a power station from the same manufacturer, especially since mine is from a different brand.
As a result, I will be returning this item as I do not feel it meets my expectations or requirements.
Excellent Performance in Direct Sunlight
Worked very well in fool sun, quiet heavy so best for vehicle camping.
It's a big boi.
This is the biggest portable charger I have see to date. Not that I am an expert, but I have used a few in the past. This is up to 400W of power and can charge a powerbank via the MC4 connector at up to 10A. So you can get a good safe steady charge from these things. The panels are easy to direct, waterproof and come with a nice case for transport, and while they are chunky, they do fold down quite small. This would be perfect if you are looking to live off grid for a while! Overall a very capable and well made product that is quite expensive, but if this is your thing, you will be happy with the performance.
Excelent.
Firstly - I don't normally mention packaging in reviews; but when buying something of this size/value I think it's always a consideration - will it arrive intact?. I'm very pleased to open this and see it's double-boxed, with good, thick card boxing, and has foam pieces inside also, so its well protected in transit. Now that out of the way, the item itself is very well made, is probably as light as it can be, whilst being sturdy in situ. There are fold out supports on each panel - which are good, but I would like to see some kind of cross bracing for better support and to provide more sturdiness - only time will tell if that is needed or not though - maybe I'm just over-thinking it.I got this so that it could be used when I go camping at race tracks for 2-5 days at a time, as this helps everyone in our group keep devices powered etc. It does take up a reasonable amount of space, but as its quite flat, I've found a place for it quite easily. It's very easy to get set up and working. There is some flex in the panels when set up, but I don't think it's anything to worry about, and hasn't caused any issue.
Unmatched size in a portable solar panel!
I am extremely satisfied with the ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel with MC-4 Output XT60/DC Adapter. It is a brilliant solution for keeping my power station charged during long trips. Although the panel is quite heavy, this can be attributed to the high-quality construction. The convenience of this portable panel is unparalleled as it effortlessly produces 400W of power under optimal sunlight conditions. Compared to the hassle of unpacking and setting up multiple 100W panels and creating a complex network, this panel is a game-changer.
I especially appreciate the quick and easy setup process, as well as the exceptional quality of the panel and stand. Even the cables provided with the panel are of high quality. The flat design makes storage in my van a breeze, and even when folded, it remains a reasonable size. Prior to purchasing, it is important to ensure that you have adequate storage space. Although the panel comes with a higher price tag, I can confidently say that it is worth every penny.
Portable and Compact, But Heavy.
The 'ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel with MC-4 Output XT60/DC Adapter' comes in a cleverly designed pack, making it highly portable and easily stored despite its weight. Setting them up is a breeze as they open out and can be positioned to optimize sun exposure. Despite their heavy build, these panels securely stay in place and can be effortlessly assembled and packed away. The inclusion of a smart pocket allows for safe storage of cables without adding much bulk. Even with lots of luggage, these panels fit easily in the boot of our car. However, it is important to note that they are quite heavy. Connecting them to a solar generator is a simple process, and their five large panels ensure efficient charging. Overall, these solar panels are a great choice for maximizing sun exposure while remaining compact enough to be stored against a wall in the garage or in the boot during camping trips.
Powerful and Reliable: ALLPOWERS 400W Foldable Solar Panel
I am extremely impressed with the Allpowers 400W Foldable Solar Panel. This panel is designed to gather a significant amount of power, making it perfect for those who need a reliable and efficient energy source. While it is bigger and heavier than traditional panels, this is necessary in order to generate 2-4 times the power.
One of the standout features of this panel is its foldable and portable design. This makes it incredibly convenient for those who are constantly on the move. It is especially well-suited for camper vans and off-grid living. With this panel, you don't have to worry about running out of power as it quickly replenishes your portable power station and keeps it charged up throughout the day.
The quality of the panels is truly amazing, and they are highly efficient in energy production. Additionally, the setup process is simple and easy thanks to the folding supports conveniently tucked into the back of the panels.
Considering the exceptional quality and performance of this product, the price is fair and reasonable. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend the Allpowers 400W Foldable Solar Panel.
Silently Weighty
As a female, I found this to be the largest portable solar panel I've ever encountered. However, I must admit that it was quite a challenge for me to carry due to its weight. Nonetheless, it performed excellently and proved to be extremely useful during our recent camping adventure. Just keep in mind that its weight might require some extra consideration.
